Arthritis is a very common chronic condition in seniors. It causes pain in joints, stiffness, and makes it very hard to move as it progresses. Due to this, even the daily tasks become painful, but it also affects mood and quality of life. At Miwa Homecare, we understand how difficult it can be both physically and mentally. We trained our caregivers to give proper care that helps older ones live comfortably in their own home.

Helping with everyday chores

Many people who suffers with arthritis find it hard to do daily tasks like dressing, bathing, brushing their hairs and even cooking. These are the daily tasks that an individual with arthritis may find hard to do. Our caregivers helps perform these tasks but also keeping in view patient independence. Care depends entirely on every individual; some might need a helping hand, but on the other hand, some people depend entirely on the caregiver to help with daily activities.

Encourage light movements

Movement for patients with arthritis is very important, but it should be safe and gentle. Our caregivers promote exercises to reduce stiffness. If the patient has a physiotherapist so we follow the plan and help to stick to it.

Using adaptive tools

For the assistance of the arthritis patients, some tools are used such as jar openers, forks, and button hooks. Our caregivers slowly and politely show the older patients so they can use them on their own and feel confident.

Maintain a safe and comfortable environment

Comfort matters a lot. Our caregivers keep the house neat and clean and ensure the furniture is supportive enough. They also help to use small things like hot and cold pack for joint pain and keep an eye on swelling or any health changes.

Providing emotional support

Arthritis not only hurts the body of the seniors but it also affect the feelings of the patients. It can disturb their sleep routine and make them to feel alone. Our caregivers don’t just help physically, they are also there to talk, listen and support them emotionally.

At MIWA homecare, we believe having arthritis doesn’t mean compromising freedom. Through proper help and support, seniors can live safely, stay active, and live good lives in the comfort of their own homes.
